Award Ceremony
Fran Laserson, President, The Moody's Foundation, welcomed everyone
to the Challenge Awards. She spoke about why The Moody's Foundation
created the competition as its signature project, and the importance of
encouraging kids to study and pursue careers in math, economics and
finance. She acknowledged the work of teachers in the sometimes thankless
job of encouraging and motivating kids to do their best work. She looks
forward to continued success and growth of the M3 Challenge.
James Crowley, Executive Director, SIAM, spoke about SIAM's
enthusiasm to be a part of this contest. He mentioned that April is Math
Awareness Month, and that this year's theme is Math and the Brain. He
congratulated the teams on wonderful papers and presentations.
Lee Seitelman, Head Consultant for the M3 Challenge, spoke of his
pleasure to be involved in the Challenge, and the outstanding quality of
the presentations witnessed that day.
Wow! Not only did Moody's Mega Math Challenge record the presentations and
award ceremony for posting to the web and the start of a cool archive,
