Special Instructions: Challenge Weekend Technical Support

Troubleshoot by considering the most common issues participants face:

  • If you are attempting to begin the Challenge and cannot login, you can:
    • Recoveryour password here – this requires that you know your team number
    • Can’t find your team number? Search your inbox and junk folders for a message with subject line: You Have Been Successfully Added to Team # [team_id] for the M3 Challenge – this message contains your team ID # and password
    • Can’t find that email – you will need to contact your coach to see if they received a registration confirmation email - their subject line is You Have Successfully Registered to Participate in the M3 Challenge!
    • No luck? Email us during the scheduled technical support
  • If you are experiencing problems with uploading your solution, you should:
    •  Email your paper to – BEFORE YOUR DEADLINE OR AS SOON AFTER AS POSSIBLE (Papers received more than a few minutes after their expiration of work time will be flagged as late and are not eligible for top prizes)
  • Trouble downloading any data files provided in Excel? If you and none of your team mates have access to Excel, have no fear. Google search terms “how to open Excel file without Excel” and/or look into Google Sheets, which is free to access and can handle Excel files.

  • To help access some of the links and resources that may assist with brainstorming for the 2018 problem, it may help to have java enabled with your browser. If you are uncertain about this or need help, try searching on “is java enabled on my browser” or “how do I enable java?”

  • Have a question about the problem statement? – Sorry, but we cannot help you, nor can any other human. Put your heads together, breathe, and do your best to interpret what is being asked of you! Define your problem statement.
  • You may not get help from anyone other than your teammates, not even your coach! Gathering data through research is perfectly fine, but calling an employee of an organization relevant to the problem topic, or designing and collecting response to a survey during your team’s work time would violate this rule. Also prohibited: Help sites for which you can pose a question in a forum and receive a response (like Yahoo Answers, for example).
  • Aside from interactive tools and help sites, it is perfectly fine to use software, data, research, and other tools to complete your solution.

No luck troubleshooting on your own? Technical Support email: - will be actively monitored ONLY during the email help hours below. Emails will be answered in the order received and response may not be immediate.

Email help hours: Email will be monitored by Challenge staff during the following times only (all in Eastern Standard Time). It is suggested that you begin your Challenge work time during one of these time ranges so that you will have access to help if needed:

Friday:  8 a.m. - 4 p.m. EST
Saturday: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. EST
Sunday: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.  EST

Phone calls made directly to members of the project management team during Challenge weekend will not be returned until the following week.
