National Math Competition Title Sponsor Wanted

Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) is seeking an exceptional partner, eager to contribute to the winning formula of the nation’s most prestigious national math modeling competition for high school juniors and seniors to ensure its continued and future success.

The only math competition of its kind, the Math Modeling Challenge needs a new title sponsor. The Moody’s Foundation ended its 12-year sponsorship of the competition, previously known as the Moody’s Mega Math Challenge, at the conclusion of this year’s contest. Since its inception in 2005, the Moody’s Mega Math Challenge has drawn the participation of more than 37,000 students, 4,000 high schools, 5,000 teachers and 400 Ph.D.-level judges, and has awarded more than $1.2 million in scholarships.

Are you ready to invest in the future of American youth?

2017 participants speak out about the Challenge

"This was the hardest thing that I've ever done in my life and it is also the most fun. I think this challenge needs to continue and grow I absolutely love it."

"I just want to say how awesome the idea of M3 is. I literally get to use math to solve a real-world problem that NEEDS solving. It's so much more engaging than traditional math assignments (although about 10 times harder!). I feel like I'm accomplishing something for the world, rather than for my teacher."

"The challenge was so much fun!! I appreciate that SIAM takes students and their math capabilities seriously, and understands our capacity to answer tough questions! We will always rise to the occasion."

"I really enjoyed the M3 challenge. I learned many things, not only about math and mathematical modeling, but about completing a gargantuan task in a large but pressing time frame, and working well with others."
