Round 2:
HOW TO ENTER
- Register for MathWorks Math Modeling (M3) Challenge 2021 – you must be registered and submit a solution paper to be considered for a prize. Register here.
- Create a 2-3 minute video documenting your M3 Challenge experience. Consider light editing so you can include all the best parts!
- Submit your video by March 7 at 11:59 PM EST by uploading it to YouTube and email the link to [email protected], subject line: Social Media Contest Submission 2021.
- From March 12-22, the top five videos will be posted to the M3 Challenge Facebook page and voting will be open to the public to choose their favorite! The two teams with the most “LIKED” video will receive a $50 Gift Card for each member of the team.
ELIGIBILITY
- In the video include your 2021 M3 Challenge team ID #.
- ALL teams are eligible to submit a contest video as long as they submit a solution paper; even if you are not finished with a paper within your work time period, partial submissions are accepted, encouraged, and judged.
- Some ideas of things to include in your video. (You can view past videos on the M3 Challenge Facebook page – under videos “2020 Video Contest – top 5”):
- How you prepared and practiced for Challenge weekend.
- Resources you used to prepare or during Challenge weekend.
- How you divided up the work and approached solving the problem.
- What you would have done differently.
- Obstacles or funny situations during your work time.
- Advice for future participants.
- Teamwork and team fun.
PRIZES
- The two teams with the most votes for their videos receive one $50 gift card per team member. Celebratory team zoom dinner, anyone?
- The three remaining teams will win an M3 Challenge swag bag.
By participating, each entrant grants MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge permission to use their submission and his/her/their name, likeness, comments and videos for publicity and any relevant purposes without payment of additional consideration, except where prohibited by law.

- March 12-March 22: Online voting period for top five videos

WIN A $25 GIFT CARD for every member of your team! Virtual team building exercise prior to the Challenge: Using online collaboration tools, post a clip, picture, collage, or meme of your MathWorks Math Modeling (M3) Challenge team. Post your clip, picture, collage, or meme on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram and tag @M3Challenge by February 15th 5:00 PM EST for your chance to win a gift card! If you post on TikTok or another social media channel just send us a file of your video/clip or email the link to [email protected].
Note: Dollar amounts will be converted to pounds for winners in England and Wales. We encourage teams to collaborate virtually to create and post your submissions.
The “Social Media Contest” is organized by MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge (“Organizer”). This contest is governed by these official rules (“Official Rules and Guidelines”). By participating in the contest, each entrant agrees to abide by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements, and understands that the results of the contest, as determined by Organizer and its agents, are final in all respects.

- Create a clip, take a picture, or share a meme about your M3 Challenge team or how you plan to prep for Challenge weekend.
- Post your creation on Twitter, Facebook, and/or Instagram*, tag @M3Challenge, and include your team ID number.
- Clips should be a maximum of 30 seconds; clips longer than 30 seconds will not be eligible to win.
- Each registered team can only enter one submission per social media channel.

ELIGIBILITY
Entrants must be high school juniors or seniors in the U.S. or sixth form students in the UK, and registered for M3 Challenge 2021.
WINNER SELECTION
- The Organizer will choose the top five submissions as winners based on creativity, originality, and use of M3 Challenge resources.
- Winners of the team gift cards – five winning teams, $25 gift card awarded per team member – will be announced February 18.
- Decisions of the judges are final.
PRIZES
- The top 5 teams will each receive one $25 gift card for each student on the team.
- Gift cards will be emailed.
