Of the 794 papers submitted to this year’s Challenge, 148 advanced to the second round of judging. A total of 37 distinctions are awarded with scholarship prizes, less than 4.7% of submissions.

SPARK Awards

The top three awards, ranging from $1,000 to $3,000, were awarded to teams that developed Solutions with Passion, Resourcefulness, and Knowledge. These awards recognize teams from Title 1 schools in the U.S. that demonstrated excellence and creativity in solving one or more parts of the Challenge problem..
