Of the 770 papers submitted to this year’s Challenge, 153 advanced to the second round of judging. A total of 37 distinctions will be awarded with scholarship prizes, fewer than 4.8% of submissions.

SPARK Awards

The top three awards, ranging from $1,000 to $3,000, are awarded to teams that develop Solutions with Passion, Resourcefulness, and Knowledge. These awards recognize teams from Title 1 schools in the U.S. that demonstrated excellence and creativity in solving one or more parts of the Challenge problem.
